Kookaburra room

 

The kookaburra room focuses holistically on each individual child and provides a safe yet challenging environment. The room philosophy is that “children learn through play” in accordance with the Victorian Early Years Framework. We are able to recognise this by:

 

Being:  recognising the here and now of the child’s life.

Belonging:  knowing where and with whom the child belongs in environment, community and society.

Becoming:  the process of significant changes in a child’s life including Children’s identities, knowledge, understandings, capacities, skills and relationships.

 

An emergent curriculum is used which allows children to extend the activities themselves,maintain their interests and exploring their environments further. This creates pathways for growth and development, which occurs at the individual child’s own rate.

 

The children don’t only learn from our intentional teaching, we learn from the children and their daily discoveries, which never cease to amaze and inspire.
